"It is the Tang Dynasty, the zenith of Daoist magical arts in China. Low-ranking magician Li Bai travels to the shores of Lake Dongting to test his skills, harboring dreams of becoming a Sorcerer of the Realm. Yet disaster strikes when one of the examiners kills Li Bai’s best friend, and poisons Li Bai. A poisoned Li wanders the countryside in a search for salvation, during which he composes poetry that will live on for over a millennium. Meanwhile, other literary luminaries like Wang Wei and Du Fu emerge from the shadows, one of them carrying secret orders from the emperor. In this age of chaos, bitter conflict and incredible power, from where will the next Sorcerer of the Realm appear?"
