Book Description
As the subtitle of "East Asian Modern Art and the Strategy for the Proprietization of Art since the 1990s" suggests, this book deals with similar environment for creation and exhibition that was created when the contemporary art world of Japan, China, and Korea gradually became global.
The 'popular art' phenomenon that emerged in the contemporary art world in the 1990s was not the result of cultural traditions such as Confucianism or of external factors such as global globalization. Rather East Asian artists responded creatively to the changing factors in the external art world.
Also, this book will provide an opportunity to think about alternative exhibition and the future of artist communities that are found in modern art in a globalized art environment.
